The Evils of Kinder Eggs

A letter in the post to Kinder as we speak Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to you hoping that you will be able to explain the atrocities that my child and I found in your seemingly innocent looking eggs. I am not the sort of parent who would usually succumb to this popular culture of poisoning my children with chocolate but if you have children yourself you would know that sometimes it's hard to stand your ground when they are making a scene at a checkout in front of a crowd of contemptuous onlookers and that it can sometimes seem easier to cave in under the pressure against your better judgement. So I purchased a “Kinder Egg”. This was not my choice but what my young child had selected. I checked the packaging and as the toy inside was, and I quote, “not suitable for children under 3 years,” I thought that no harm would come to my child, they being twice that age and quite advanced for their years. The rest of the shopping excursion passed without further event and I would have forgotten about the Kinder Egg if it wasn't for my child approaching me later that day looking somewhat upset. No parent likes to see their child distressed, especially without knowing why. I became quite worried and asked what was wrong. He held out his hands and asked me, “Daddy, why is the black man angry?”. He held out his hands to show me the vile “toy” that he informed me he had found in your “children's treat”. I was and am still appalled at what toy he passed me. I have included a picture of the aforesaid offending article for your perusal. I try to raise my children to be open-minded and accepting of differing cultures, religions and races which can be hard in this ever increasing environment of hate and images like this not only go against everything that I have raised my children to believe in but also against moral decency. It took me a long time to try and explain this toy to my child, even having to lie to them as I could not tell them what I thought. That this had to be no more than a sick prank pulled by one of your disgruntled workers. I later returned to the place of purchase to consult the manager on this matter. He informed me that it was probably just a poorly thought out purchase from one of your many suppliers of these toys and assured me that the other toys were not of the same poor taste. Apparently it was all a misunderstanding and I should sample another, which he gave me for free hoping that seeing another would placate my fears and that the reassurance he offered would be reinforced. When I popped open the little plastic egg inside I was at once shocked, disgusted and slightly nauseous. Following the first incident with the “angry black man” I found that this second one contained an even viler figurine of “a white ghost “ (picture enclosed). What kind of perverted people are you at Kinder? There is no place in society let alone the untainted, innocent world of children for “comic” (for want of a more appropriate word) figurines representing the Ku Klux Klan. What next? Little plastic toys of members of the Third Reich?! I am incensed and would like to know what reasoning, and I seriously doubt that you will be able to find any, you have for this attack on my myself, my children and doubtless others. I am keeping the two toys in question as evidence of this scandal and await your response. Yours Faithfully, **** ***** (pictures enclosed in letter but not email......sorry)
