Boycotting Telechek Telechek appears to have an abundance of power which they abuse. Three times with two different checking accounts--both active accounts--have been rejected by telechek. Not only do we have the money in both accounts to cover the checks, neither one of us have written--ever written a check that bounced. We have never written a check that did not have the money in the bank to cover it. One of the bank accounts is with a credit union that we have been with since 1984. The other account is a new one that we opened in September of 2005. Silly us, we believed that if we opened a bank account that was local to our new home that we would be making life easier for ourselves and the retail stores. Obviously not. So my question is, why do these people have the right to embarrass and humiliate us? So far, Staples, JC Penney's and Auto Zone have rejected our checks. When we called to inquire the first time, (Staples) they said it was because it was a new checking account and we hadn't established a record yet. Okay, I can understand that. It was humiliating and embarrassing that it happened but I can understand. So the next time I went to write a large check I used the McCoy account. The one we've had for over 20 years. Nope. That was rejected as well. Something to do with the computers and it was supposed to be called in. Another example of the Peter Principle where management and employees don't know what they are doing. I was furious! I was totally humiliated and embarrassed. Telechek reassured me that it was JC Penney's error and that they should have accepted my check. Next, and most recent happened to my husband at Auto Zone. He was purchasing an alternator since our vehicle needed one. Alas, that check was rejected as well! Only this time we couldn't speak with an actual person. It was all computerized and no one answered the phone. He came home furious. I can't understand why he would be furious or feel embarrassed or humiliated. Can you? As it stands we will no longer shop at the above mentioned stores nor we will be patrons to any stores that utilize the Telechek system.
