Stupid questions, stupid people

I work at a public library. You would think that intelligent people use the services...not always. Why do people call up and ask, 'Are you open?' I think, 'No, I just come in here on my day off or a holiday to answer stupid questions like this'. Or they will come in and I've never seen them before and ask, 'How many books do I have out?' Duhh!!! It helps if you give me your card so I can get into your record. Or they have fines on their card for multiple lost or late items and swear up and down they never took out that book.......Give me a break.
