stealing when i was a kid

i have stolen before in a few stores when i was in primary school. But then the shop was closed down and I never had the chance to return it back. But I haven't stolen anything for a long time. I have forbidden myself to steal anything again. But still I wonder if I should confess to the police or something. I have never told my parents before and I'm not sure if I should. But I tried hard to return everything that wasn't mine. I have once took a stop watch and a ruler from the storage cabinet in the scout meeting room when I was a scout and in the end I put back the stop watch outside the door of the room. That was after I have graduated from being a scout. But I 'm afraid if I ever told my parents, they will be so mad and disappointed at me or take me to the police, tell the school and everything. So if I'm willing to change and be sure that I won't be stealing again, do I still need to talk to the police?

You have done these things when you were immature. No need to tell the police that might your career.
