software compatability

I think software should be compatable with all or many platforms. Java does this pretty well. Emulators work okay. Boot Camp for Macs kind of solves this by letting you run windows, OS X, and possibly linux(I'm not sure though). I wish you could just download or install software and it would work. Also I think that downloading and installing shouldn't take so long.
