short term disability

I have worked for 3 years at a company,until I became ill. My primary physician as well as a specialist took me off from work for 5 weeks now and my short term disibility has not paid. I chose the option to have short term disability to cover my self and family in case of an emergency however it's not working and I'm not getting any better. When I asked my rep about the delay he sated that they had to make sure I couldn't perform my regular duties..well oviously not. Since this is the election yer. maybe this is not a bad time to express our concerns, perhaps we can get some positive movement .
