she ruined a holiday with our grandchildren

I'm complaining because our daughter agreed that we could take our grandchildren of five and ten to Greece for a fortnight but then she started telling us where to go, when they should eat and to have them in bed by 6pm. The day before we were due to book the holiday she got her elder daughter to call, saying she could only come for one week as she was going to a pony camp. You can imagine how hurt and angry I felt. We had to cancel the holiday and it has soured our relationship with our daughter. Two years on the relationship is still very strained. She rarely telephones and we are not made welcome if we go round to visit. I wonder whether if I had told her a few home truths at the time we might have been able to move on.
