Salvage title

I was recently in a femder-bender. The car, a '98 Toyota, got a squashed rear fender. It has a few dings and dents besides. I was sent to a certain body shop, was there maybe 5 minutes -- long enough to be told I needed an appointment. Golly gee, was I surprised to hear my car was 'inspected' and was totalled! Seems it costs more than the car is worth to fix it, and it will be considered salvage if I keep it. I checked: the car only has to be roadworthy to, uh, be on the road. It don't need to be pretty! The insurance adjuster seems ticked that I don't want to sell her my car for $5K. There's an auto auction . . . stay tuned to this space.
