Runaway Money

When I was fifteen, my brother who was eighteen years old ran away from home. We were living with our second step-father and he was very cruel. Mother didn’t protect us any; she was drunk half the time. He told me before he left and because I knew he was leaving, I went to our step-dad’s safe, broke in and stole his money. It was all of his yearly savings. The next morning, with my brother gone, the blame fell on him. My step-dad was raving mad and I was silent all through his reign of terror. With the money I ran away the next year. I don’t regret stealing from him at all.

Don't you feel remotely bad that you let your brother take the blame or is your relationship with him dysfunctional too? You'll know if your actions ever turn around to bite you in the bum!

Looks like you were one wise guy when you were young. Pretty nifty too the way you planned your runaway. I like it.
