I have recently read a leaflet detailing Bristol city council's plans regarding garden waste and the new scheme which allows people to buy a green bin and pay for it to be collected on a regular basis. I thought it was a good idea until I read further and found that this is not going to be a general charge added to the council tax bill for everyone. It seems that the council thinks it unfair for anyone not having a garden to have to pay for this service. (Maybe this is a fair point.)In that case, I pay council tax each year. A lot of my council tax payments go towards Education. I don't have children and will not have children in the future so in fact will not be using this service. Does this mean that I am entitled to have this large portion of my council tax removed from my bill??
