My son who is nineteen and disabled had to go to a PH.D for an IQ test to qualify for SSI and Medicaid. At first my son said that this PH.D was really nice to him. The 'doctor' started asking him questions and when my son didn't know some of the answers and would guess he would say, Is that really what you want your answer to be?' He would look at my son like he was stupid and get this look on his face like he couldn't believer what my son had answered. My son who has trouble with self-esteem on his best days was crushed. He had tried his best but now is feeing stupid and worthless. IS this normal procedure? Then the 'doctor' comes out to talk to me. I am not brilliant but my IQ is over 120 so I'm not exactly stupid. He ask me how old I am? What in the heck does that have to do with anything? All we want is some help with insurance and the high cost of medication for my son. We have always worked and not been on any kind of government welfare. I have a plea to all PH.D's out there. Please leave patients with a little dignity!
