poor performance

I have a 2000 Century Buick with 47,000 miles. I have had to replace the head Caskets for $940 , a water pump $400, break drums $125 and a total tranmission for $1600 and a new battery for $60. Isn't this rediculous...seeing as GM Knew the 2000 Buick was a poor design and changed the 2001 models. I would think GM would help with the cost of these replacments or maybe a recall. How can we support GM if they are designing poor designs and then expect the customers to continue to buy their cars. I am retiree from GM but I am afraid this will be my last GM car.
