In a police sting operation my cousin was 'caught' serving an underage drinker at the bar where he worked. The undercover police officer, posing as the girl's father, had walked past security with the girl who looked around 17/18 and asked for drinks himself. Because my cousin served the man two alcoholic drinks my cousin was deemed to have broken the law. Everyone who has ever worked in a bar knows the dorrstaff are responsible for asking for ID. People also grant (however wrongly) that possibly underage drinkers will be served if the person asking for the drinks is deemed to be over the age limit. This sting operation would have caught me, and anyone else out. Unfair? Most definatley- but thats just another statistic for out police to add to their successes.
