a plumber came to the house to repair a cloged drain and repair a possible broken fitting,(to the same drain)water was leaking under the house.He quoted me 85.00 an hr.said hed be back in the am.and since I couldnt be there until 11am to leave the backdoor open,my elderly father would be there but does not get up for the door.when I arrive at 10:50 there are two trucks,two workers out front and then the boss shows up they talk for the next 10 mins I butt in and ask how things are going ,they said theyd been waiting for me I tell them about the back door arraingment ,the guy laughs say my dad forgot to tell me that.So anyway its 11am one get the snake into the kitchen while the other goes under the house they ran the snake for seven mins. I figure there is 1hr. min. so far.85.00.the other comes out from under the house says the previos plumber installed the drain pipe fitting wrong when he installed a new shower the year before they went to their trucks I assumed to get parts they needed and talked and answered phones,(one call was for the one guy to bring a lady different style faucet handles,about two blocks away),so now its 11:30 and they tell me they have to go to the hardware store for parts they return at noon.one goes under the house the other stays at the vent about 2 ft. away from the work area at cuts a piece of pipe for the guy doing the repair.Exactly one hr. later he comes back out from under says he done and hannds me a bill for 596.00.thats 93.00dollars for the drain snake(my regular guy charges55.oo )but thats beside the point.He also charged 2 and a half hrs.times two in labor for two guys and 73.00 in parts.the half hr. was for waiting for me because his boss neglected to tell him I wouldnt be there,All told thats a whopping 425.00 for labor.I figured it should be 85.00 for drain clean,and 85.00times2 for one hr to fix the pipe,that170.00 plus 73.00 in parts bill totaling 328.00.So imagine my shock to see my my bill just 32.00 short of being doubled.who do I go to to see to make things fair?
