I made an appointment at the Picture People store in the Solano Mall, Fairfield, CA. We arrived 5 min late but they said they were going to take the next appointment. I reminded them they were behind anyway and that I had an appointment. They agreed and we were next to be photographed. My daughter is shy and does not like to be ordered around. She is 2 and will not stand still without a prop. I asked for several but the wannabe drill instructor said 'we cannot use props until she poses without them'. She kept pulling my daughter around by her arms, so I stepped in and said I will get her to pose. I do not care for employees being rough with my child. Next I was told the props I wanted were not available. Yet a 15 mo old child had been posing on a surfboard prior to our shoot. I requested a train or airplane prop. They would not allow my daughter to use any props even though she is the height of a 3 yeaar old. I finally got through to the 'drill instructor' that we needed to use props or no pictures would be happening!!!! She gave my daughter a soccer ball, not entirely matching a formal crocheted dress. Next I kept asking for another prop so she could sit and my daughter found car nearby. Initially 'drill instructor' refused to let her use it citing she was too young...Yet a 15 month old had used it previously...My daughter was allowed to use it but she was too big! her foot got stuck twice and now has a red mark around her ankle. I requesed a larger car, but they refused citing 'all of our other props are for older children'! If you go strictly by age she will be too big for everything! We are tall people, I 5'11 her dad is 6' and grandpa is 6'3. My daughter is predicted to be in the 6'2 range (based on her doctors estimate). So my question was what props were in her age group...that according to the employees is 'secret information'. I asked again and they would not tell me anything other than the props department makes the decision. I finally did get a umbrella that matched her dress, but she was done. I wanted to preview the pictures then and what a horrible set they presented. The photographer did not wait for her to smile and most were blurry. The cashiers did not 'retouch' the photos rather you could see the floor, lights, etc. I was told by the cashier these are good pictures, at which point I asked for an 800 complaint number. DO NOT call this number if they give it to you. They called the store and talked to the photographer who told them I WAS the problem. They said I wanted my daughter to be on props not suitable for her age and they wanted to do a reshoot. I just wanted a picture for her dad and grandpa, not an injured child or bad experience. Please think before you allow your child to be photographed at this store, it is not worth the hassle.
