Photocopier suppliers

We bought a photo copier off a local (allegedly reputable) supplier 5 years ago. Our company became part of the group,with machines being supplied by a national company to enable us to keep tabs on costs. We tried to cancel the contract with the local supplier who then invoked a cancellation charge of 4 quarterly charges because we had missed the 'cancellation window' 6 weeks or so earlier.
