Advert infinitum. Outdoor advertisement comes under local and central governemnt control. Typical regs and laws are: Anti Social Behaviour Act; Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act; Disability Discrimination Act; Highways Act; Town and Country Planning Act land use and development provisions; Town and Country Planning Control of Advertisement Regulations. With all these provisions why do so many businesses break the law? With all these powers why are controlling authorities so lax in using the powers. Did you know that one illegal poster attracts a fine maximum of level 4 £2,500 plus £250 a day? You must have seen some events local and national and some local and national businesses routinely fly-posting in the hundreds...several million pounds of fines revenue being lost and detterent actions being missed by authorities so they cannot say they do not have the resources can they? What is illegal adverts? Trailer hoardings, posters, 'A' boards and merchandise set out on the street or pavement, banners, permanent signs. There are deemed consent provisions but basically if you have not cleared it with the district council and are not sure if it is deemed consent you are probably breaking several laws or breaching several regulations. Is it just big business or just the local corner shop? It is many businesses from cottage industry to multi national corporations. Name names? it would be easier and quicker to tick off a directory with businesses who act within the laws and regulations. Jsut walk down any street or drive anywhere in Britain.
