I'd like to know .... What ever happened to .....(Police Dept.) 'we serve to protect? I was nearly attacked the other night (11/17/2006) and I called 911 AND....I ran to (who happens to be a Police Officer for Altamonte Springs) my next door neighbor for help,,,,Screaming....Pounding on their house, doors, etc.. I honest to GOD thought I was going to be hurt or worse....KILLED. To make a long story short......I basically got 'kicked to the curb'....so to speak. I was on the phone (my cell) when I called 911 begging for help for more than at least 10 minutes and all the dispatcher wanted to do was ask me questions repeatedly and treated 'me'....the victim !!! Like 'I' was some crazed lunatic woman screaming for 'attention' rather than for 'help'. I've never in my 42 years of life ever been so disappointed in our Police Department as I am today. SOMETHING should be definately addressed to them (which is my next step) but also, more importantly......to the citizens of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Especially the women who find themselves in this horrible situation as I was. I cant and be going out side my own home for Im sure...quite a while after dark. We're just not safe anymore and especially when we 'thought' our Police Department would come to our rescue when called upon....... Think again before you make the same mistake I made.
