One Friend Less

Me and my circle of friends are going away to the Keys next week. It will be our third girls’ vacation in two years and again, we don’t want to bring along one of us. She is so cranky that the rest of us find her company unbearable for prolonged time. It’s ok if we are meeting for a few hours every week. But every hour of a week-long vacation will be hell. She doesn’t know we are leaving her out of our fun time. It’s getting harder to keep her in the dark and we have a few more days to shop for a lie to convince her that four of us are going to disappear for a week.

I took a bitch on vacation once, she made up lies about the entire trip. I ignored her and so did 'our' friends. I had told her about her actions and attitudes MULTIPLE times before the trip but she still showed her ass. The person who wrote 'You are going on vacation to have a good time and relax.' I's completely right!!!!!

You are going on vacation to have a good time and relax. You are not obligated to invite her knowing she's a downer. She will only dampen a great time. Lying to her will only make the situation worse. It'll be hard but one of you (the most diplomatic one) needs to break the news to her rather than her hearing it through the grapevine. She'll feel even worse if she finds out from other people. Don't all sit down and tell her because she'll feel ganged up on. But she should know why she was not invited. Give specific examples of her negative behaviour. Perhaps she does not know she's doing it. Then offer to go on another trip with her if you see she's changed her ways!

friends should always be friends no matter what, if she is a good friend but cranky at times this should not be a reason to exclude her

thats a serious problem, you either will loose her forever, or you might reconsider taking her with you and try to change the way she behaves
