obselecent appliances

It seems that even well known appliance manufacturers are going with built in obselecence on their appliances. I have just thrown away a five year old GE refrigerator and a lot of food because my fridge blew a compressor and it would cost over $600 to fix. It was otherwise in very good condition, just didn.t run. In addition to spending $89 for a service call being told that it was better to buy ne than fix was of course not good news.
