Needless worry or a problem.

Something is bothering me, but is it needless worry or a serious problem. I am a Dad with 3 sons age 17 , 14, and 12. I have always been affectionate to them. I have always and still hug all 3 of them. I also kiss them on the lips, but have always let them decide when it was time to stop kissing dear old dad. My oldest and middle child stopped when they were about 7 or 8 years old, which seems about the appropriate age. But my 12 year old is extremely affectionate. He likes to cuddle up next to me when we watch TV and he still wants to kiss. I am not talking just at bed time. He wants to kiss me when he gets up in the morning, leaves for school, comes home from school, when he comes in from messing around with his buddies and so on. Whenever I suggest we just stick with a hug he gets upset and says he loves me so much and needs to kiss me. So I relent. Just for the record he is like this with his Mom too and although he doesn't kiss his brothers he does hug them quite often. Am I wrong to think it's time to stop the kissing?, If so does anyone have a suggestion on how to break him of this habit or is just how he is and I need to accept it.

I think you should talk to his doctor about that because either might be some kind of metal issue (not saying your son is dumb or anything) they might tell you what's wrong with him when you speak to them about it then you'll see why he does it and you'll be aware of everything

It could be some kind of obsessive/compulsive behavior

Relax Dad. One of my sons is all man and he still gives me a kiss on the cheek.
