mud sticks

I have asked myself on many occasions 'why does mud stick' In my case it's with the police. Not me personally, but my son. From about the age of 11 every so often we'd have a knock on the door. A child matching your sons discription was seen doing bla bla bla. Taking into concideration, how many boys do we all know that have blond hair and blue eyes? However many times they took my son off to the local police station, locked him in a cell till a solicitor arrived they could never pin anything on my son. because he hadn't done anything. Well to cut a long story short. One occasion, the police came round 8am in the morning because some reliable source had identified my son breaking a window the previous day.. Well unless my son is in a hospital gown with a drip attached to his arm, i very much doubt whether you have the right person. He was in the hospital having his toncils out!!! Is it any wonder the kids are sceptical and have no trust or confidence in the police, when all they've ever had is negative contact with them? It makes me soooooooo angry, when real criminals are roaming the streets, but all the police seem to want is the easy targets like harassing kids because they're known to the police in general.. can anyone make a fresh start and wash the mud off!!
