move in boyfriend and my kids

My moved - in boyfriend and kids are constantly at each other, i'm going crazy being the peace maker I hate it. My boyfriend is 'stuck' in his ways, and my teenage kids are 'stuck' in theirs and I am tired of being in the middle. I have told each one of them, 'if you have a problem, don't tell me, tell the person you have the problem with', like that works. If my kids do something my boyfriend doesn't like, he says 'fair is fair, I'll just do the same back to them', i explain that that wont work, but he always responds, 'well, i can't help it, it's in my nature'.
