Misleading food labels

Is anyone else confused by the labeling system on foods in our supermarkets? Some companies highlight the levels of fat, sugar and salt in foods by giving recommended daily amounts as percentages, whilst others use a colour-code system - red (high), amber (medium), green (low) as an indication of required, healthy daily amounts. Apparently, according to the Daily Mail last week, some companies are hiding the true amount of fats and bad stuff in foods so they can sell more, by giving misleading figures that do not represent the actual amount: they are going against government guidelines. With the growing obesity crisis I feel this is not acceptable. We should be able to trust our supermarkets to be consistent and to indicate exactly what is in their food, so that we can all aim to have a healthy diet if that's what we choose. They need to make it clearer as to what goes into our food and not fiddle the figures!
