Beware when purchasing a Maytag, Amana, Whirlpool or Magic Chef appliance!We purchased a Maytag gas range in 1994 and in 1998 the control touch-pad failed for the first time and has failed 6 times after that, sometimes prior to being in the unit for even one year. Maytag shared the cost of replacement the first two times and since then tells us that due to the age of the unit they can offer no concessions. Obviously, this problem began prior to the unit being too old to offer concessions. It seems to us that when the very same part fails continuously there is either a problem with the part or with the unit itself that causes the part failure. Apparently Maytag is not concerned enough with customer service to stand behind their parts.
