'My Granddaughter, is a Fullbright recipiant, and Stanford Medical School student. She went to Honduras to study the diets of under under privilaged children. She was unable to use her cell phone while she was there because she was too far out of the range to be able to call home, so she left it in her suitcase during her time in Honduras. It wasn't till she was packing to come home that she realized her phone was missing. Long story short, she was billed twelve thousand dollars for calls that were made on her phone. All the calls were made to phone numbers in Honduras, with only seconds between each of the calls. This should have allerted Cingular that someone was using the phone for an illegal use. Cingular says that they did try to reach her, and I'm sure they did, but she was in another country so of course they couldn't reach her! Cingular is demanding payment, and has threatend to put the bill in collection. My Granddaughter is in the process of filing for student loans, and will surely be denyed a loan if this happends. It appears that their is nothing and no way to fight big business, and Cingular doesn't offer any insurance to its clients, as does credit card companies. Something has to be done...this isn't something that should happen in this country. Bad enough that my Granddaughter was robbed in another country, but to be robbed by her own county is very, very sad.'
