Lexmark X1270 Printer

I have been trying to install a Lexmark x1270 printer on my gateway laptop for over one week. The software indicates that the install is successful, yet when I try to print a document the pop-up indicates that the printer is not installed. I have contacted Gateway and was only able to leave a message on voice mail. HELP! MH
