Left parking lot accident

I was arriving at my doctor's, JUST IN TIME for my appointment. I'm not really sure how it happened, but I cut it too close pulling in and scraped the car next to me. A guy was walking to his car when this happened and I went with the obvious 1st reaction: "Oh, shit!" I then asked if he knew whose car it was (it's not a huge parking lot) and he said he didn't know. Flustered, I asked what to do, mentioned I was late for my doctor's appointment, then muttered something about getting pen and paper from my doctor to leave a note. I went in and asked the receptionist for the pen and paper, briefed her on what happened, and asked what I should put in the note. Then she got a little gossip-y and asked what kind of car. I leaned to look out the door, told her it was a purple van type car, I didn't really know. She gave an "It happens" type answer and said maybe they'd be gone when I left. The doctor was ready for me at that point and I knew the appointment wouldn't take long so I just held onto the note. When I went to pay and leave, the receptionist again said maybe/hopefully the car would be gone. (SIDE NOTE: I got into a car accident a few months earlier and even though the other guy hit me, insurance split liability between us.) The car was still there and no one was around. Panic took over because I didn't want to find out if I caused more than just a scratch so I kept the note, got in my car and left. The way I scraped my car, the pressure from the scrape popped my fender and in a way that the fender now needs to be replaced. That alone will cost me roughly $800. I would never have thought I would leave the scene of an "accident" without so much as a note. (I didn't even leave a "fake" note.) I'm super paranoid right now that someone saw me and I'll get in trouble. Between my prior accident, being a broke college student, and finding out I managed $800 worth of damage on my own car for the scrape, I just couldn't bring myself to do the right thing and leave a note with my name and number.

Its not as if you didnt try to leave a note. You should have done though because you wouldnt be happy if somebody did it to you.
