After playing a 9 hole round of golf at Sherwood Hills resort, located in Utah, my beginner golfer and I were confronted by the assistant Manager while returning the cart to the club house that we had taken more time that was alloted for a nine hole round of golf, when I explained that this was the beginners first time on the course and that along with the golf strokes proper ediquette was being taught and that we allowed the only groups that were behind us to play through he still insisted that there was no excuse for our 3.5 hour round, with the beginner listening he continued to offend and insult us, and insinuated that this golf course was no place for a beginner even though we did not cost the establishment any business by being slower than the average player. I made a special point to choose a course that might be less busy and to ask the attendent taking my money when we began if it was busy, because I had a beginner, he assured me that the morning was busy but it had slowed down and that it would be no problem. I realize slow play is not tolerated on a busy course, but we effected no ones play but ours. If we sent this message out to all beginners the game of golf would not exist, my beginner has spent time on the range, but there always has to be a first time on the course with basic rules being taught that can not be taught on the range. My beginner is now very hesitant to step onto another course.
