You're on for coffee : ). It seems to be my drink of choice these days, although I still have the occasional urge to spike it. Yes, life is grand when you're sober and may I add... not a dry drunk. I left a phone message for the friend I mentioned on this site, earlier this evening. He's as bad as I am about actually answering his phone. I do hope he's maintaining though, especially with the holidays, and his insistance on dating. I made that mistake and then some (in very early sobriety). In fact, I hooked up with a guy in AA and we drank together off and on for a long time. What a mess! Anyway, my friend is a decent person, very typically alcoholic/too smart for his own good, but he did mention how many decent relationships he's lost, and all the cars and boats he's smashed recently, so at least he's admitting he has a problem with alocohol. Last year, he didn't think he was out of control at all as he compared notes with me and a childhood friend of his who almost lost his marriage and his lisense as an attorney, due to his alcoholism. His friend sounded almost identical to me with his reasoning behind not attending AA meetings or seeking any kind of help for himself, so it was very easy for me to 'coach' him into going as I'd already been where he was. That's the beauty of it, and what I understand AA was originally designed for. NOBODY understands an alcoholic/addict like another one, except God, but hey - he's watching out for us drunks anyway - GRIN.
