Jekyll & Hyde Boyfriend?

After nearly 2 years of serious dating, my boyfriend and I went off to separate college... 3 1/2 hours away from each other. We both regretted the decision and decided to transfer to either the same school or closer schools the following semester... due to some health issues on my part, I had to leave early and I'm now at home trying to get back on my feet... and all of a sudden my boyfriend has changed in nearly EVERY way! He was raised by yoga teachers and was always wise and strong... and now it's like his school is a cult! He's changed his views and claims he has to 'cut off all ties' with his previous life... He told he loved me and that he was 98% sure that he wantd to be with me forever (i pointed out that it is impossible to know if you want to be with someone forever, since people change all the time), but that 2% of his was unconscious and he couldn't be with me until it was 100% there... I'd appreciate the honesty if that were true! He refuses to really communicate with me now, visit me (as he had promised), or even utter the words 'i love you' anymore! I asked him if wanted to sleep/date other girls and he told me that wasn't it... I DON'T GET IT!! I'd understand more if wanted to experiment more since I've slept wih someone else and he hasn't... but this is ridiculous! How can you claim to love someone and then intentionally hurt them? How can we be together again if he refuses to acknowledge the connection we have?
