So there was a ferry in my city that carried over a hundred a employees and families of a local corporation sank, many people died and there are still many missing. A thought came to my mind is that that company is going to open a lot of job vacancies, an opportunity for me.

You're just being a person. You feel sad that people died, but everyone has that secret feeling of 'thank goodness it wasn't me or mine'. And given today's economy the next thought of alot of people was probably the same as yours. Don't feel about being a selfish person. We all are. Most people just won't admit to it.
