Teacher ‘fled with girl pupil after 4-month sex fling’ — Married Jeremy Forrest 'abducted' 15-year-old — Lewes Crown Court told of French getaway Handcuffed ... Jeremy Forrest arriving at court By DAN SALES Last Updated: 12th June 2013 A MARRIED teacher ran away with a 15-year-old pupil four months after he started having sex with her, a jury heard yesterday. Jeremy Forrest, 30, took the girl to France when police and school chiefs began investigating their relationship. Lewes Crown Court heard he had repeatedly seduced the girl in his car, hotels and the home he shared with his wife. The besotted schoolgirl fled to France with her teacher because she feared her mother was about to discover they were having sex. She told police she fell in love with maths teacher Forrest during a school trip to Los Angeles. Their relationship became “more flirty and friendly” before progressing to full sex last summer, four months before they ran away, the court heard. Prosecutor Richard Barton told the jury of eight men and four women: “This is not Romeo and Juliet. This is about a gross and lengthy breach of trust by the defendant. “He took careful steps to avoid detection. “When it became apparent that their relationship was going to be exposed he compounded his criminal conduct yet further by fleeing the country with her in an attempt to avoid punishment.” The jury heard police were tipped off last September and visited the girl’s home, taking her phone away to be analysed. But the move alerted Forrest and the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons. They caught a cross-Channel ferry to Calais and spent a week on the run in France before being caught in Bordeaux. The girl’s interview with police after being brought back to the UK was filmed and shown to the jury at Lewes Crown Court. She said: “The night I had the police officer and child protection officer come to my house was when any plan of running away really started. “I wanted to leave because I didn’t want to face my mum. I was scared. “He obviously didn’t want to get caught, he was scared, he didn’t want to be around for it either. “None of us expected this to happen, for us to start a relationship. I think I kind of led it but he followed up to what I was doing.” The court heard Forrest had been having sex with the girl for four months before they fled to France. Incredibly, his bosses at Bishop Bell School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, spoke to him six times in six months about the “inappropriate” relationship. Denies abducting girl ... maths teacher Forrest, 30 But they only took decisive action on September 18 after police were alerted. Mr Barton said the girl’s relationship with her teacher was “every parent’s nightmare” after they started having sex last June during illicit meetings outside school. Mr Barton said: “One of their favourites was the crematorium. He would drive them there in his black Ford Fiesta.” Forrest also took the girl into the spare bedroom of the home he shared with wife Emily in Ringmer, East Sussex, and to hotels including the Premier Inn. He even booked them into the White Hart Hotel in Lewes — directly opposite the court where the trial is being heard — under the names Mr and Mrs Forrest. Mr Barton told the jury: “He phoned the girl’s mother. He said, ‘Don’t worry about all these rumours’. “It was an utter lie because by this stage he was having clandestine meetings with her just turned 15-year-old daughter.” After the police visit, the girl packed her bags and went to school as normal next day. Forrest had called in sick, but she used a friend’s phone to arrange their escape. The teacher stole his wife’s passport for the girl to use, then picked her up in his car. The girl sent texts to friends in a bid to put cops off the scent, with one message saying: “Me and Jez are going north.” After catching a night-time ferry to France, they dumped the car in Paris, then caught a train to Bordeaux. The teen told police: “I got rid of my school bag, my school top and changed into a stripey top. “On the first night I obviously dyed my hair so as not to be recognised and Jeremy did the same. We tried to lay low but money was running out.” The pair drafted fake CVs in an internet café, with Forrest calling himself Jack Dean and the girl taking the name Gemma Grant, using the real surname of her favourite singer Lana Del Rey. Booking ... White Hart Hotel in Lewes Forrest tried to get work at the HMS Victory bar in Bordeaux, but Brit owner Alison Cummins recognised him from media reports and alerted police. Police set a trap and Forrest was arrested when he turned up for a trial shift. The girl told cops how she fell for Forrest during the trip to LA in February last year when she was still only 14. She said: “I was attracted to him. I hadn’t felt the way I felt about him before. That’s why I used the term falling in love. “I still feel the same, nothing has changed. “There was an attraction from me to him without him having to do anything. “I like the fact he was older and maturer. The more he was nicer, the more I was flirty. “My friends noticed. The way we looked at each other. The way we were.” She said she liked Forrest even more after he hugged her when she was upset. Mr Barton said the girl told pals she had a crush on Forrest after seeing him in his swimming trunks at the hotel pool in LA. The prosecutor said: “It became very obvious that she had become infatuated with him. One of the members of staff spoke to him about it and warned him.” The girl — a nervous flier — then fixed it so that Forrest was next to her on the flight home, and the rumours began after he held her hand to calm her down. The girl told cops: “The school warned us a bit but never did a full investigation. “We began texting. The texts started off with a lot of kisses. The conversation became a lot more friendly and flirty. There was photos and things like that. “Things stayed like that until the school holidays when we ended up having a sexual relationship.” The girl added: “We didn’t start a relationship until the end of May. We had spoken so much about it and we decided that this was what we wanted to do. Sunk ... Forrest sought job ar the HMS Victory bar in Bordeaux “It became serious as time went on. I had never fancied a teacher before. I have had boyfriends but because he was older this was different. He was older and more mature, not like teenage boys.” The court heard on Monday how Forrest was repeatedly warned about his relationship with the girl as rumours swept the school. But when challenged by school chiefs both Forrest and the girl denied everything. Mr Barton told the jury: “It is an offence to remove a child from the care of their parent or lawful guardian without that adult’s consent. It is no defence whatsoever that the child consents.” Forrest denies abducting a child under 16. The trial continues.

Personally, I'm not offended except by the prosecution. Just let the lovers be would be my attitude.. She seems to know her own mind, despite her youth. Not gullty.
