Is the love still there?

I had been dating this guy for a while and things seemed to be going great. He had told me in the past about a girl that he used to date a long time ago that he was madly in love with. They are still good friends and talk every now and then. I can tell he absolutely adores her. But he told me that the reason it never worked out is because she is so focused on her work life and moves a lot. She told him the other day that she is moving back home for a few months. I asked him if he thinks there is a chance that they will get back together and he hesitated saying "I don't think so". That really threw me off. I just don't know what to do. Do I wait around and see if anything happens btwn them or do I just throw our relationship out the window?
