I want electric cars back on the streets

Why did they kill off the electric car? You could drive up to 50 miles on one charge. But no, people wanted more horse power in their cars! Hello, you can only drive 60 miles per hour on highways. Why the hell do you need a car that can drive up to 120 miles an hour anyways??? I don't need a hybrid! I don't want to be dependent on fuel, period. An average american drives to work 15 miles or less. The electric car would be just fine. But I guess people were not ready for the future, and I don't know when they are going to be ready. But I know that I am. I hope that the electric car will return once more for good. Thank you
