I'm back for a bit. Dawn, I know what you mean about giving up a girlfriend who was a drinking buddy. One of mine actually cried when I told her I couldn't hang out with her anymore because she would not stop drinking around me. Another one of mine was more respectful about it, but I did miss the bbq's and all that going on right outside my back door that I couldn't go to because there was loads of beer there. The hardest for me has been this guy I've been seeing for a long time now. We generally have a blast together, but always end up drinking (9 times out of 10). He's an alcoholic also. I have damn near begged him for us to be together sober, and he hasn't yet. I'm tired of waiting for him to 'just try' hanging out with each other sober. I had to tell him I didn't want to see him unless he's sober, and I doubt that will happen. It hurt for me to say that to him because I care very deeply for him.
