I bought storm shutters for my Florida home, and when I purchased them through Home Depot, I was told 6-8 wks even though it was already Hurricane Season. When it came time for the installation to take place, I had to call them as I never got my 'welcome call' which was the call informing me the time and date of the installation, so I could do some prep work,demolish some concrete faux shutters they said had to come off or they would be in the way. They hadn't told me that the manufacturer 'ran out of materials' to even make my shutters. My biggest complaint about the situation is not being kept informed as to what was happening, no one seemed to have any idea what was happening. I was then told that I could not be told who the manufacturer was because they didn't want direct contact with consumer's (apparently the company I was told originally would be making my shutters was wrong info, I found out after a nasty phone call my husband made to them). Through all of this Home Depot was quick to sign us up for a credit card so we wouldn't hold up the job due to waiting for approval on a equity loan we applied for to pay the 10,000 + price tag for a little peace of mind. Well 14-16 weeks later they came and installed the shutters, but had to leave without all the lock down brackets being installed due to a lack of hardware and a worn out tool, a week later they were supposed to come out and finish the lock down brackets, my husband was off for the day and waited all day, no call no sign of anyone, the next morning at 7:45 a.m. unannounced they show up to finish the job. No big deal you might say but we both work, we have an 80 pound dog that needed to be secured in the house, we expressly asked for a call before they arrived, For 10,000+ dollars I deserve better treatment, all I got was the run around, no call backs and empty apologies. We shall see how they hold up......I will never use Home Depot again for anything except maybe to buy small items.
