HOME DEPOT GIVES STORE CREDIT ON DEBIT! DEBIT IS NOT CASH IT IS CREDIT ACCORDING TO HOME DEPOT! If you purchase an item at home depot and happen to return it, make sure you have the same debit card. If someone gave you a gift and you have the receipt and it is debit they will get a store credit. If you happen to change financial intuitions' after the purchase and no longer have your same debit card you get a store credit. If you lose your debit card, it is stolen or is demagnetized and you return your purchase after this has happened - you will get a store credit. Why? Because Home Depot considers this CREDIT, Not CASH. (Told to me by there manager on duty) Hmm, it comes out of your account instantly and they receive it upon there nightly deposit, but it is not cash. You don't have a right to it as it is not the same card and you do not have permission to return the item from the original purchaser. Don't we use Debit because it is cash and for the convenience and the safety of carrying cash around. So don't purchase with debit if you have any chance that you might return it. When with your spouse ask yourself before purchasing who will return the item? If giving a gift make sure they really want it, or will use the store credit. No reason to keep your receipt if you have to return something on debit as you will get a credit, I guess that is convenient. No worries on where you put that bill. I spent 15 mins trying to get my money back on debit but since my husband purchased it on his debit card and not me; I am not entitled to the cash. After speaking with the Manager on Duty she said that she will do me this favor this time as I was not being agreeable with her and her hands are tied, it is their policy that debit is credit unless it is the exact same # used the first time. Wow thanks for returning my cash that was paid for out of my joint account with my husband, next time I won't pay with CASH, I mean DEBIT-CREDIT? What do you mean-is it worth it for a next time?
