True, and NEVER believe him if he says he's going to stop drinking. If in any future he's sober and responsible you can consider it but based in experience that never happens and even if it does your relationship will never be a good one and it just won't work out.

There are a lot of guys out there who don't get drunk and beat their girlfriends. Find one of them and forget about your X. Seriously.
