Gay and in love with friend

I am 17 years old and gay. I am in love with one of my friends and have been for a while. I am not sure if he is gay, although he has often said he is, I am not sure if he is joking or not. How can I be 100% sure that he is gay? And how can I tell him or let him know how I feel about him?

The main problem is that he nor anybody else knows that I am gay.
