Gastic Band Operation

I'm going for a gastric band operation next week. I hope the surgery goes well and I have no complications. I didn't tell any of my friends that I'm having a gastric band operation because I didn't want them to talk me out of it. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this procedure? Thanks
