Gas Drive Off

I went to get gas Tuesday night after getting off work. I always go to the same gas station and pay at the pump with debit card so I don't have to go in and deal with lines or the rude cashiers. I swiped my card and put the nozzle in my tank and the pump made a ringing sound and said, 'see cashier.' I went in the store and traded in some lottery tickets and told the girl what the pump said, she told me that nothing was showing on her register so just go ahead and pump the gas. I went back to my car and the pump said, 'begin fueling', so I did and then got in my car and left. I was at work the next day and my supervisor came to me and told me I had an emergency phone call from my mother. I ran to the phone worried there had something had happened to someone in my family. My mom informed me that they police were at their house looking for me, they said that I had stole gas. I was extremely mad that I had been accused of stealing and of all things, gas. I immediately went to the gas station when I got off work to clear up the matter. I was already upset when I went in there and to make matters worse the same cashier that called the police was working. So I asked her why she didn't inform the police that there was a misunderstnding with the pump when I went in to let her know. The cashier had a bad attitude and said well you were supposed to swipe your card again and I told her that I didn't know because she did not tell me. She just said well you were suposed to and that's why I had to call the police and tell them that there was a drive off. I paid for the gas and left even more furious at the cashier. She should have made the police officer aware that there was a problem at the pump and she failed to. Because of her failure to do so if my parents would not have been at home at the time the officer came, there would have been a warrant out for my arrest. To make matters worse when my husband and I went home there we were telling our family about the incident and my sister in law just happned to be at the gas station that same day. She overheard the same girl talking about ME and how I had come in there and canceled a transaction and drove off with gas and she called the cops and she told them they better get me. Well, I decided to contact the owner of the store and fill her in on her rude employee and how she caused a lot of trouble. The owner was very upset and said there would be an investigation and I finally got an apology, but not from who I wanted it from.
