Providing a home for a child who needs a home is a job and should be considered as such, including raises, recognition, and retirement benefits. I have given many years caring for children in foster care. the longer I was there, the less pay, the less security was provided. Still, my home was invaded whenever by caseworkers, required classes never ceased and less respect from others. When Cleaning people began making more money than professionals, I thought it was because of the lack of benefits. Raising a rejected child and having to undergo the public scrunity and rejection is enough without the slap of no financial security, retirement,or raises The continual demands to abide by rules that no one keeps is down right humiliating. Who does care for the child? If you really care, then volunteer b/c as a career it stinks.
