Favoritism over my brother

I had an unusual experience growing up in that my (single) mom favored me pretty drastically over my brother. She blatantly loved me more. She sent me to an expensive private school, he went to public. I would get way more presents than he did on my birthday and on Christmas. Whenever I was interested in anything she would buy me equipment, lessons, whatever I needed, not for him. I got away with way more than he did. Mom would quietly talk to me if I did something wrong. If he did the same thing he would get yelled at or even slapped. I didn't have any chores to do. He had tons, he even had to straighten my room, make my bed and wash my sheets. I don't understand why my mom didn't love him. He was and still is very sweet, and very pretty. I feel bad now, we are in our mid-twenties and I am very successful and in love with life, and he has major issues. But back then I loved my higher status in the house.

He might be a step son of your dad that is why she is treating your brother as hell.

No parent should ever show that much favoritism to one child over another! That is horrible!

Statements such as these out yourself as a loser, and no doubt you have received what you deserve: your life.

Yes, he has few skills, very low self esteem, and very anxious and timid.

Are his "major issues" a result due to his treatment by your mom growing up?
