Faulty Designer Shoes

Bought shoes costing 230GBP from well known store in Liverpool (clue... you will need a bat and leather bound ball to play this game). Shoes worn less than 21 hours over a period of 7 days. Out and about when rain fell quite heavily. Returned shoes to well known store only to be told 'shoes are a fashion shoe and shouldnt be worn in wet weather'!! ermmmmmm!!! What should I have done??? removed them?? When pushed a little further for a replacement/refund the snotty owner stated 'used for example getting on and off yachts'... Have lived in Liverpool all of my entire life and have yet to see people getting on and off a yacht in the Mersey!! I would be grateful for guidance
