I got engaged yesterday, and I hate the ring and the way he asked me. I've never been shallow, but I think that the ring is fake. The thing is that thinking those things make me feel bad because I love him and want to spend the rest of my life with him.

First off how do you know it is fake? Secondly why do you hate how he proposed, you should be happy that someone you love feels the same about you and wants to spend the rest of his life with you. Proposals are like the wedding day two individual days of your lives together do not make or break a relationship. The perfect world in your head is not the world you live in. Be happy with what you have and remember what have to lose if you are petty.

Let him know you want it insured. Assess its value for that. If fake, you need to include that on who he is to sort out your feelings toward him.
