Don't Ever Give AOL your card number for anything

I logged on to one of the AOL 'Free 30 day Trial Disks' in 2004 and decided not to keep the service after the 'trial period' was up, after giving my debit card number at the beginning and being reassured that upon cancellation, the agreement to automatically bill my account would be terminated, I find out 2 years later that not only had the account been documented as 'cancelled' but the transaction did not go thru and they had been debiting my account for the past tow years! When I called to investigate, they requested an extensive amount of personal info. supposedly as proof that I had not reactivated the service. After submitting all of the info requested and some that had not been, they tell me that due to the amount of time that has lapsed, they couldn't give me all of my money back, after having told me that when I sent some extra info that cost me more money to have my bank account researched, AOL fraud department told me that they were not going to give me the remainder of my money nor were they reimbursing the research fees that they told me they would refund. I was taken advantage of because I failed to check closely, my bank statements, but I hope they stand to lose more than they think that I have.
