Direct TV ripoff

DISH Network 9601 S. Meridian Blvd. Englewood, CO 80112 After being a longtime Dish network customer, I called to upgrade my service to receive digital high definition service. I was told that I would have to commit to a 24 month contract. Since I knew I would be moving in the next six months, I did not feel comfortable with this committment. My local cable provider offered me month to month service with no long term committment. They also gave me a significant discount on programming services worth approx $500 since I was a Dish customer. I called Dish to cancel and was told that they would send me a box to return the receivers, remotes, etc. They also advised me that they would bill me for the equipment if I did not return it. I waited patiently for the box and return uinstructions to arrive (would love to get the pile of equipment out of my den). The box never arrived and Direct TV debited my checking account $285.85. When I called to correct this, the operator(Noicole) repeatedly asked me the same questions - What was my name, address, etc. After 15 minutes of getting no where, I asked to speak to her supervisor. After repeated & extended holds, I was transfered to her supervisor, Arnel. He also refused to credit my account for the non-return despite showing him on UPS's package tracking web site that the boxes and return instructions they shipped were never delivered to me. I am now out $285 while I wait for new boxes to be sent and the return credited. Do not do business with DISH NETWORK. They are not consumer friendly or customer service oriented. They drafted my checking account without contacting me and giving me a reasonable chance to return the receivers.
