Dental Insurance

I would like to complain about the lack of dental benefits offered to employees of the State of Kentucky. My spouse works for the state and we have three children to feed, clothe, educate, and keep healthy. It is bad enough that the health insurance the state offers is so ridiculously high for family coverage, but the state offers no dental insurance whatsoever. Considering that many people still think of Kentuckians as illiterate hillbillies with no shoes and no teeth, you would think the government would want to promote dental care as much as possible. We continue to take our children to the dentist and orthodontist, but five cleanings cost us $300 the last time we went. We also have one in braces and that is not cheap. We signed up for private insurance, but it didn't cover orthodontia and it was going to cost us more in a year than the actual cost of braces, so we dropped it. I'm not sure who to be more frustated with...the state of Kentucky for not offering better benefits or my spouse for leaving a job that payed for most of our health and dental insurance for one that payed slightly better with worse benefits.
