Dell Finance fraud

This complaint involves the unscrupulous business practices of Dell Computer when they finance your computer purchases under what they call 'no interest financing'. I purchased a Dell XPS 600 computer from Dell over the telephone. They informed me that I could get 'no interest financing' for the purchase for 12 months. I just had to pay it off within 12 months to avoid finance charges. WHAT I WASN'T TOLD was that not all of my purchase qualified for 'no interest financing'. My system cost about $2,800 and when I got the first statement it had $300 of the purchase as a 'regular finance plan' and $2,500 as 'no interest financing'. I sent Dell a check for $300 to pay the 'regulkar financing' part. Guess what? You guessed it -- they applied the $300 to the $2,500 'no interest financing' part and hit me with interest on the $300 'regular plan' part (at an APR of 23.99%). No one at Dell ever told me in writing or orally: (1) part of my purchase did not qualify for 'no interest financing' and (2) that my payments would first be applied to the 'no interest financing'. This practice is unconscionable, dishonest, inexcusable and outrageous. As a result, I will NEVER EVER buy anything from Dell again and I am telling every person and business that will listen NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM DELL. Dell will never know how many sales they have lost by this practice, but they have already lost plenty from my efforts. I urge everyone to avoid Dell at all costs. From everything I have seen and read, THEIR PRODUCTS STINK. YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY!!
